Women's History Month Luncheon

The League of Women Voters recognizes Women's History Month by remembering the achievements of women in the past and celebrating the successes of women today.

The Women's History Luncheon will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Cedarburg Cultural Center, W62 N546 Washington Ave.

Our speaker after the luncheon will be popular writer and historian John Gurda. Mr. Gurda has been studying his hometown of Milaukee since 1972. He is the author of nineteen books on subjects from life insurance to Frank Lloyd Wright and from heavy industries to historic ceneteries.The Making of Milwaukee is Gurda's most ambitious effort. It is the first feature length history of the community published since 1948,and Milwaukee Public Television premiered the Emmy Award-winning documentary in 2006.

He will present on the topic of " Rogues and Reformers: Milwaukee's Surprising Political History."

After his presentaton attendees will be able to purchase his books and have them signed.
